What seemed like a routine trip by Utah Department of Public Safety agents took an unexpected turn when they found themselves with a mysterious shiny metallic monolith that was in the middle of the desert.
It all happened on a research flight, carried out last Wednesday, to monitor the behavior of bighorn sheep in southern Utah, United States.
Agents from the Aero Bureau unit of the Utah Department of Public Safety, in support of the Division of Wildlife Resources, saw the strange object that looked like something out of Stanley Kubrick’s film, “2001: A Space Odyssey.”
“One of the biologists saw it and we happened to fly directly over it”, said pilot Bret Hutchings to the American media KSL. “He was like: Wait, wait, wait, turn around, turn around! ‘And I was like:’ What? ‘ Y he says, ‘There’s something back there, we have to go see it!’ “added.
Indeed, there it was, a monolith of approximately 3.5 meters high that seemed to have been planted and not to have fallen by chance.
For the pilot, the person in charge would have been an artist fanatic to the classic Kubrick science fiction film of the year 1968 and he did not want to speculate about some extraterrestrial phenomenon.
“I guess he’s a new wave artist or something or, you know, someone who was a huge fan (of ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’)”, said
However, it is illegal to install structures or any type of artwork without authorization on public land, the Utah Department of Public Safety announced in a statement. Therefore, they decided not to reveal the exact location where the artifact is located.
