Sony has confirmed that the company managed to identify those who leaked much of The Last of Us Part 2 online, noting that these people were not members involved with Sony Interactive Entertainment or the Naughty Dog studio.
In a statement first reported by GamesIndustry.Biz and confirmed by IGN US, Sony offered an update on its investigation into the leaks.
“SIE has identified those primarily responsible for the unauthorized release of TLOU2 assets. They are not affiliated with Naughty Dog or SIE. We are unable to comment further because the information is subject to an ongoing investigation. We are waiting for The Last of Us Part II is in your hands and we can’t wait for you to enjoy the full experience on June 19. “
The Last of Us Part 2 Creative Director Neil Druckmann also commented on the leaks after the original release of the Sony statement, saying, “I’m glad this has been cleared up, but there are plenty of other false rumors out there. We hope to be able to discuss all of this once the game is out. ”

Potential spoilers for The Last of Us Part 2 began leaking online massively over the past week, so Sony announced a new release date of June 19 for The Last of Us Part 2. Since then, we’ve been Aware that The Last of Us Part 2 will require 100 GB of free hard disk space on your PS4 or PS4 Pro.
The Last of Us Part 2 had been indefinitely delayed in early April. Originally slated for a May 29 release, The Last of Us 2 has actually only been delayed for a few weeks, while PS4-exclusive Ghost of Tsushima was also delayed to July from its original release date of 26 of June.
