The officer assured that a permanent “cyber patrol” is maintained on the web, social networks and the darkweb, “in order to counteract this new form of smuggling that was identified and is triggered.”
According to General Franco, in these last 7 months that the country has been in confinement due to the pandemic, the Polfa and the DIAN have achieved the seizure of 37.7 million merchandise valued at 73,756 million pesos.
Only in Bogotá, during the pandemic, 2.8 million contraband goods valued at 6,857 million pesos were learned. “In Barranquilla, the apprehension of 3.8 million contraband merchandise valued at 3.7 billion pesos was achieved“, assured the director of the Polfa.

Due to the covid, General Franco acknowledged, these illegal sales through social networks soared, which is why “a new group was formed that will have the powers to do digital patrolling and monitoring.”
Similarly, the officer pointed out that these networks dedicated to smuggling using social platforms have an advantage “in marketing, in disseminating information, commercialization. And we have identified that they have appropriated the mechanism for home delivery of the merchandise“.

Finally, the Polfa points out that during the pandemic it seized 222 containers containing 18.7 million contraband goods, and 66 illegal goods collection raids were carried out.
