Through a statement, the Vallenato artist Silvestre Dangond expressed his solidarity with Alejandro Nieves Martínez, injured in the traffic accident in which his father, William ‘Palomo’ Dangond, is involved.
Silvestre’s statements came after the dissemination of testimonies from Nieves’s relatives, in particular his sister Rosa, who asked both the artist’s father, the alleged cause of the accident, and the singer himself, to take responsibility for what happened.

The accident occurred last Thursday, in the vicinity of a Valledupar clinic. Witnesses reported that the white truck, license plate GJP-535, was driven by Dangond and was speeding. They say that while trying to evade other vehicles, he collided with two motorcyclists, one of them Nieves Martínez, who was seriously injured.
It was later learned that William Dangond had got out of the truck and left the scene after seeing the wounded. Apparently, he was picked up by someone else in another car.
The most recent statements from Rosa Nieves, the injured man’s sister, implied that they have not received communication or support from Dangond Sr., or his son.
“I tell Mr. Palomo that I have done great damage to a humble family, with a good heart. I ask him to appear, to show his face and take responsibility for the damages,” he said in an interview with Semana. He also said that his brother is intubated and has not been able to speak with him.

Alejandro Nieves is a farmer and father of four children.
“I ask Dangond and his father to help them put their hands on their hearts,” insisted Nieves’ sister, in addition to asking the Police and the Prosecutor’s Office to act.

“I am a member of a family, I am a father, I am a son and a brother,” he added. “I know what the Nieves Martínez family may be going through and I share their feeling of concern and anguish.”
In passing, he clarifies that despite having nothing to do with what happened, Silvestre Dangond feels “the moral obligation to help as much as possible.” And also noted: “My father has also been aware of the situation and ready to any request,” he concluded.
