There is anguish in Cartagena, Barranquilla and San Andrés due to the strange disappearance of a ship with 11 crew members that set sail on Monday at 3 in the afternoon from Panama to Puerto Nuevo, in Alta Guajira.

The boat, named El Carmen 1, was due to arrive at its destination on Friday. A relative of Edgardo Londoño García, one of the crew, confirmed to El Universal that the Captaincy of the Port of Cartagena detected an emergency signal on Thursday about 107 nautical miles from the capital of Bolívar and since then the search protocols have been activated. .

“They should have arrived in Alta Guajira on Friday. On Wednesday or Thursday they received an emergency alert from the ship. Initially it was known that they themselves put the alert and then another ship that passed reported that they saw the boat adrift, “said the relative.

Edgardo’s close friend called on the National Navy to intensify the search for the boat.

“There was a night overflight in the area where the emergency was reported. Then they sent the frigate Antioquia and everything indicates that they arrived at the site from which the distress signal was sent, but there are still no traces of the ship, ”said the relative.

The young man indicated that Edgardo and his companions, among whom there are from Cartagena, Barranquilla and San Andres, are dedicated to transporting merchandise between Panama and Colombia.
