Worrying panorama in Cundinamarca
The outlook in Cundinamarca is not encouraging either. According to Humberto Hernández, coordinator of the CAR hydrometeorological monitoring network, “At this time, any downpour will generate an emergency due to sudden floods, because in itself, the river basins are already saturated”.
Rain volumes have been mainly concentrated in the savannah of Bogota and east of the department. However, the alert is also active downstream from the Tequendama waterfall, because when levels rise, floods are generated in municipalities such as Tocaima, Girardot, Apulo, among other flat areas.

“The units must be very active in the highlands because the risk is of sudden floods, which are very harmful because they can drown people, damage infrastructure and they are rapid floods that occur in a matter of hours,” added Hernández.
For his part, Captain Álvaro Farfán, departmental delegate of the Cundinamarca Fire Department, said Ideam has predicted that these days will be very rainy and if the currents are more saturated than they already are, “we are faced with the point that any rain has great effects on the territory ”.
Ten municipalities were on alert
The Chocó Risk Management office reported, as recorded by BluRadio, that since this morning there are several situations in the department, mainly in the center and south.
Rafael Bolaños, coordinator of this office, indicated that the most complex situation is experienced in Carmen de Atrato, with the loss of two houses and problems on the road that leads to Medellín and Antioquia.
Magdalena, on alert
The Office of Disaster Risk Management of the Department of Magdalena (Ogerd) is trying to avoid the impact of the rains. As reported by Caracol Radio, Jaime Avendaño, head of the Ogerd, confirmed Red Alert in 25 municipalities and continues to address problems in the event of floods in the North, Center and Rio subregions, where the risks of overflows by rivers, streams and others are higher. water bodies.
Ideam: Tropical Storm Warning
This Saturday at noon, Ideam issued a “tropical storm warning for the Archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina.
This advisory means “that tropical storm conditions are expected within the area under advisory within 36 hours,” as the rainy conditions in the Colombian Caribbean associated with tropical storm Iota persist.
Ideam warns that the tropical storm is moving slowly with rains and thunderstorms, intense winds and high waves affecting several sectors of the Colombian Caribbean.
For their part, the General Maritime Directorate and the Caribbean Center for Oceanographic and Hydrographic Research report that tropical storm Iota “presents a minimum central pressure of 1005 mbar, sustained winds of 35 knots, gusts of up to 40 knots and a displacement speed 4 knots to the west-west ”.
This means that the meteorological conditions are conducive to a rapid and constant intensification in the center of the cyclone. Likewise, the tropical storm continues to generate unstable conditions that considerably affect the north, center, south and west of the Colombian Caribbean coast, as well as the insular area, with the presence of moderate to heavy rains and electrical storms.
“It is recommended to maximize safety measures in navigation and the development of maritime activities on the areas of incidence of the cyclonic system”, warns the National Maritime Authority.
