On the morning of this Thursday, the list of the names of the Comptroller’s Office of those accused of fiscal responsibility of Hidroituango was revealed. It is an extensive list that includes political leaders, businessmen, administrators, builders, managers, among others.

(In context: Fajardo, Gaviria and Ramos, among those accused by Hidroituango)
In the first reactions, all eyes turned to the political leaders. Why? Among other reasons, because in this group of people is Sergio Fajardo, a presidential candidate, who, according to various polls, leads the intention to vote for the 2022 presidential elections.
Although it is the announcement of the tax trial, it is worth noting that none have been convicted.
So far, in addition to Fajardo, Luis Alfredo Ramos and Aníbal Gaviria, among others, are legally accused by the Comptroller General of the Nation in the investigation of failures in the planning and execution of the Hidroituango project.
The entity opened the process of fiscal responsibility by estimating, according to the figures that have transpired so far, that the fiscal damage would be $ 4 billion.
It is evident that the single enunciation and the figures that are handled show very serious facts and that must come to an end, with all its individual consequences, for the good of all.

However, since there is no definitive ruling on them, the presumption of innocence, the flag of our legal system, must be vindicated.
That is natural. However, on the eve of an electoral campaign, it is obvious that the thing will be at a different price. In fact, Gustavo Petro, Fajardo’s most bitter rival, has already issued his judgment and condemned him:
“Sergio Fajardo is fiscally responsible for the loss of almost 9 billion pesos due to the Hidroituango disaster, according to the National Comptroller’s Office,” he declared this Thursday morning on his Twitter account.
“In order to accelerate the works, the disaster occurred, they wanted quick business with an EPM board managed by the GEA, the group that finances it,” he argued.
In social networks, the suspicious inquire why the former mayor of Medellín, Federico Gutiérrez, and also a presidential candidate is not there.
His name had been on the front page on behalf of the current president of the capital of Antioquia.
Indeed, Daniel Quintero has been accusing him because, according to him, during his administration there was concealment of the errors that were reported in the Hidroituango project, to avoid claims to the contractors of the work.
“Sergio Fajardo is fiscally responsible for the loss of almost 9 billion pesos due to the Hidroituango disaster, according to the National Comptroller’s Office,” Petro trilled.
“Since August 2019, when Federico Gutiérrez was mayor, Reaseguradora’s opinion was known, concluding design and construction errors in Hidroituango. The document was hidden by those interested in not suing contractors, ”the local president wrote on his social networks.
Why does he not appear now among the accused? They are asked in discussion forums on social networks and in radio spaces. It is an answer that the Comptroller’s Office will surely give clearly.
The truth is that Gutiérrez, Petro and Fajardo have logical interests to show their best weapons to their followers. Petro already did it without any consideration and ignoring that he was convicted when he was mayor of Bogotá in a case that almost took him out of a political career.
His verdict shows what is to come. The country will enter a phase of mutual and bitter accusations that, without a doubt, will be more expeditious and blunt than the process that until now has begun its course.
