In a procedure that lasted several hours, forensic investigators from the CTI of the Prosecutor’s Office reconstructed the scene where Juliana Giraldo, 38, died after a soldier shot. The inspection of the place was millimeter.

The car in which Juliana, her partner and two other people were traveling was subjected to a careful analysis to determine the position in which they were traveling and the trajectory of the projectile.

Investigators collected photographic material to determine the exact distance and location of the soldier who fired their weapon.

“To do this, we had a criminology team, including ballistics, surveyors and investigators who were on the scene and did their own work to collect the evidence,” said Carmen Torres, director of Public Safety at the Prosecutor’s Office.

In the sights of the Prosecutor’s Office are the versions of several witnesses who say they witnessed what happened on the morning of Thursday, September 24, on a road in Miranda, north of Cauca.

“Regarding the approach to the victims, as was done yesterday in Miranda, Cauca, today we are doing it in the municipality of Jamundí, Valle, where the respective funerals will be held,” Torres noted.

Other CTI members entered the wooded area in order to be clear about the distance at which the shot was fired., the trajectory followed by the bullet that ended Juliana’s life, and if more Army soldiers would have fired at the vehicle where she was going.

For now, the Prosecutor’s Office is advancing the investigation, but it could pass to the military criminal justice system if it is considered that the events that occurred in Cauca occurred in an act of service.
