Sara Sofía case: the mother’s ex-boyfriend could be investigated for child exploitation

An investigator in the case told Blu Radio that Nilson Díaz, Sara Sofía’s mother’s ex-partner and who even lived with her for a few days, possibly had been using her four children to beg.

Details of the case of Sara Sofía Galván, the two-year-old girl who was reported missing in Bogotá, continue to be known. Nilson Díaz, ex-boyfriend of Carolina Galván, mother of the minor, is one of the people involved in the incident, as he lived with the little girl days before her disappearance. Blu Radio announced that, apparently, the man could also be investigated for child exploitation.

According to the station, who contacted an investigator in the case, Díaz was in charge of four children of 10, 9, 7 and 5 years old, who would be his biological children, which he had with different mothers, who would be sex workers. Apparently he was forcing them to ask for money on the streets.

It should be remembered that Díaz and Carolina Galván were in a relationship in January of this year, just when the woman decided to take Sara Sofía. In an interview with the station, the man assured that the girl was at his house for a few days, but that he did not want her to be there, because he had no way to support her.

“We had a romantic relationship, until January 15, that she took the girl home and she wanted to lay the obligation on me. I am a mother and father of four children, I did not find a steady or stable job, “said the man.

According to him, for that reason, Carolina Galván would have left her house with the little girl, who was alive. Díaz also stated that he believed that Sara Sofía was not dead. “He said that he had given it to a woman in Patio Bonito, for her to work and pay her daily bills and food. I told him: ‘tell me where the girl is’ and he told me it was fine, “said the man in the interview.

This Thursday the Prosecutor’s Office charged Nilson Díaz and Carolina Galván with the crime of aggravated forced disappearance, a charge that neither accepted. A guarantee control judge is expected to define whether or not both will go to prison.
