The fact was publicly denounced by Dr. Paola Zambrano, who claimed to have lost her position at the Integrated Hospital San Juan de Cimitarra (Santander).
After two years working in this medical center, Zambrano, who has worked there as a medical coordinator since the emergency due to the covid-19 pandemic, says that hhaving ordered good quality facemasks, coveralls and other biosafety items was the apparent cause of his dismissal.

Zambrano says that the beginning of the problem occurred when an order for masks and overalls arrived at the hospital. “The implements arrived without technical specifications, the masks were handmade and were made with disposable fabrics (…) then they changed them and they sent some N95 that were easily torn, we had to stick them with a plaster”, Fact that was reported by the doctor to the hospital manager via email.
The doctor also denounced that it was never possible to give all the health personnel their corresponding clothing. “The manager said that she was not going to give it to all the staff because, since there was still no risk, they could use the overalls when they made the samples, wash it and then give it to someone else.”
To avoid contaminating his own uniforms, Zambrano assured that they put on the overalls only with underwear underneath, as they did not have disposable uniforms for the correct use of this implement.
“The annoyance arose as a result of all this and that is why I was fired,” the doctor assumed, because in the email where the settlement of her contract was attached informing her of her dismissal, the reason was not specified.
