Heavy rains on December 24 wreaked havoc in the southern Aburrá Valley.
In the Ajizal village, in the municipality of Itagüí, the gale generated a landslide that left a preliminary balance of two missing people.
Bernardo Mejía, Itagüí’s Undersecretary of Risk Management indicated that the event occurred around 2 in the morning in the El Pesebre sector.
“We evaluated 3 collapsed houses and the possibility of 2 missing persons. With the Red Cross and Firefighters we are on issues of debris removal and search for people,” said the official.

Likewise, he stated that another five homes were evacuated in a preventive manner due to the risk of landslides in the same sector.
Mejía indicated that it was about constructions made illegally and called on the community to avoid this practice, which added to the heavy rains, can generate this type of tragedy.
On the other hand, Jaime Enrique Zapata, director of the Administrative Department of Risk Management of Antioquia (Dagran), indicated that the event also left two people injured and that there is coordination between various entities to find the disappeared.
