Ruth Agudelo de Acosta, wife of the legendary singer Alci Acosta and mother of the ‘Prince of Carnival’, Checo Acosta, He passed away this Tuesday afternoon at the Clínica del Caribe, in the north of Barranquilla. On May 10th, for the celebration of Mother’s Day, EL HERALDO spoke with this 79-year-old woman, who had three children: Janeth de Jesús (Repd), Alcibiades Antonio ‘Checo’ and Ruth María.
He said that he had to be a father and mother because the teacher Alci Acosta was always fulfilling his national and international commitments.
“Fortunately my children are very respectful and I was able to handle them easily, especially to ‘Checo’ who was very judicious and quiet, very different from the rambling he is today. He was kicking a rag ball and when his father began to rehearse, he would beat him on the piano and thus he became a singer ”.
Doña Ruth, who had five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, told that she was fundamental in ‘Checo’s fight for his dreams. “His father wanted him to be a doctor, but he wanted to be a singer and I supported him unconditionally, I told him to lean towards what would really make him happy and fortunately today he lives smiling with his carnival music,” said the woman who dedicated her life to home.
