Government sources confirmed that two Russian diplomats who were in the country were expelled from Colombia.

According to the information, these people were developing intelligence activities. The warning about the illegal activities that these people would be doing came through the National Intelligence Directorate.

The sources indicated that they left on a flight Bogotá, Amsterdam, Moscow. One of them went out with the family and the other alone.

They are Alexander Paristov born on January 12, 1989 and Alexander Belousov born on January 29, 1981.

The diplomats had been in the country for more than two years.

The director of Migration Colombia Juan Francisco Espinosa, said that the diplomats left the country on December 8 and given the circumstances in which they left, they will not be able to return in a short time.

“We work in a joint manner with the national government. Whenever there are damages or potential effects on the security of the country, we will proceed accordingly,” said the official.

For similar cases of espionage, the Colombian authorities have already expelled Venezuelan citizens and a Cuban at other times.

In June of this year, Migración Colombia expelled from the country the second sergeant of the Venezuelan Army Gerardo José Rojas Castillo, whom the Colombian authorities pointed out to be an active Venezuelan soldier who, allegedly, had the purpose of establishing the security schemes and movements of the Battalion. de Artillería No. 2 La Popa, located in Valledupar, Cesar.

He had settled in Valledupar and later got several jobs in front of the La Popa battalion, which was suspicious to Colombian authorities. Later, it was confirmed that he had returned to Venezuela and was performing functions in the Army, so when he returned to enter Colombia illegally, he was detained and expelled.

In March 2019, Cuban José Manuel Peña García, accused of espionage, was expelled to the Palenquero air base, a strategic installation of the military forces in Puerto Salgar, Cundinamarca.

Peña García was told of having ties with the Cuban Army and that he was allegedly following information and itineraries for the KFir planes from Colombia.
