Clashes between a group of protesters and units of the Mobile Anti-riot Squad, Esmad, were recorded on Thursday night on Calle 5 at the height of Carrera 27, south of Cali.

The protest reached that area after being called in the Parque de las Banderas, in order to reject the murder of Javier Ordóñez, who died in a case of police abuse that has outraged the country.

The citizens, mainly young people, met at 5:00 pm and held a sit-in on Calle 5 at the height of the MÍO Estadio station, in the south-north lane, and stopped the traffic there.

At the same time, a group of protesters wrote graffiti on the walls of the CAI Panamericano.

At around 6:00 pm, Esmad units arrived at the site, who fired tear gas at the protesters who were blocking the road axis, who responded by throwing stones at the soldiers. From that moment on the riots began, which have lasted for more than an hour.

7:15 pm

A sector of the protest went to the surroundings of the Parque del Perro, where several protesters even prevented others from attacking the businesses in the sector. The youths were finally dispersed by the Esmad.

7:05 pm

Unofficially, two police officers were injured and seven protesters were held by the public force. The group of young people who continue in the protest meet on Calle 5 with Carrera 27.

The buses that go in the south – north direction are diverted after attending the Unidad Deportiva station, take the mixed lane, turn on Carrera 44, take Calle 9 towards the San Bosco station and resume their usual route.

While the vehicles that go in the north – south direction, after making the stop at the San Bosco station, take Roosevelt Avenue to Carrera 39, from there they return to Calle 5, attend the Tequendama station and resume their usual route.

In the place moments of tension are registered. A demonstrator was led by the police after apparently hitting a vehicle that was passing through the area.
