“Dimayor regrets the death of Ricardo Ciciliano, former Colombian professional soccer player. The clubs associated with the institution and the national football family send their condolences to family, friends and relatives at this difficult time,” the Major Division of the Colombian Soccer, which organizes tournaments in the country.
The former soccer player, who worked as a creative and is remembered for his good punch, debuted at Deportivo Pereira in 1993 and went through Deportes Tolima, Atlético Bucaramanga, Deportivo Pasto, Deportivo Cali, Deportes Quindío, Millonarios, Once Caldas, Junior, Uniautónoma and Atlético Huila, a club from which he retired in 2012.
His only international experience was at Juan Aúrich, a club he joined in 2010 and with which he won the league a year later.

In Colombia, Ciciliano was champion with Tolima in 2003 and with Cali in 2005, while he had his highlight with Millonarios during the 2007 Copa Sudamericana, of which he was the top scorer with six goals and led his team to the semifinals, in which he was eliminated by América de México.
He is also remembered because on November 19, 2006, when he was playing for the capital team, goalkeeper José Fernando Cuadrado was expelled in the second half of a match against Independiente Medellín for committing a penalty and the Ambassador had no more changes, so that Ciciliano put on his gloves.
The pitcher was Jaime Castrillón, the improvised goalkeeper read his rival’s charge well, he stretched to the side where his rival finished and saved a penalty that made his fans celebrate and that allowed Millonarios to win 1-0.
