“I must announce my definitive break with what was my political house throughout my parliamentary life practically, my militancy with the party has ended due to ideological differences that have been appearing for two years, they were irreparable,” said Barreras, quoted by Noticias Caracol.
Regarding the referendum that he will promote against Duque’s mandate, he assures that the process will start tomorrow (Friday) in several cities.
“We clearly know that this regime, which has been becoming less and less democratic and authoritarian, must be defeated in 2022, and that must be done now. We are going to begin a process to revoke the mandate of the Uribe-Duque government, we are going to summon 2 million people who with their signature will allow us to register that recall referendum committee, ”the senator explained.
He also said that, the following process, will seek the support of more than 8 million people at the polls so that those who feel that the Duque government has affected the institutions, show their support.
It says that the referendum would modify the Constitution in 4 aspects:
