The cartel of ‘the most wanted’ for homicides in Cali was released this Thursday by the Metropolitan Police. These are 22 men identified by the authorities as allegedly responsible for the violent deaths in the city.
Brigadier General Manuel Vásquez, commander of the Cali Metropolitan Police, said that this is one of the actions with which they seek to reduce the rates of violence in the capital of the Valley.
It also revealed that within the framework of this strategy, 34 raids were carried out in communes 7, 14, 15 and 21, in eastern Cali. He confirmed that several people were captured, including five women, linked to crimes and would be part of the criminal structures ‘Los Chopos’ and ‘Los Pirus’.

Apparently, these gangs are responsible for homicides due to territorial control disputes for the sale of narcotics.
The Police revealed that they found evidence of invisible borders and the existence of markings on the facades of houses “where with graffiti they sent threatening messages to other rival groups,” they say in the statement.
In addition, they are accused of other crimes such as forced displacement, the use of minors for the commission of crimes and the illegal possession of weapons.
During these proceedings, seven minors were apprehended and will be made available to the Special Prosecutor’s Office for adolescents for the restitution of their rights.
According to the ‘Security and Coexistence’ report, between September 1 and 29 there were 108 violent deaths. It is the month with the most cases so far in 2020.
