After a meeting of the Unified Command Post, PMU, in which no joint metropolitan agreements were reached on measures to slow down the speed of spread of COVID-19 in the department, the Government of Santander exposed the restrictions that should apply during the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021.
The Government of Santander called on the mayors of the Bucaramanga metropolitan area to implement stricter measures that contribute to the slowdown of coronavirus infections in the department.
The measures, which were presented this afternoon at a virtual PMU meeting, consist of extending the curfew during the 31st and first days of January, including the Reyes Bridge, as well as returning to the Pico and Cédula, but not to stop odd.
The first proposal of the Government consists of extending the curfew for next December 31 from 9:00 at night to 5:00 in the morning of January 2.
Thus, the measure would govern for more than 30 hours and would prohibit the mobility of citizens through the municipalities of the metropolitan area, as well as in Barrancabermeja, San Gil, Barichara and Socorro.
Another of the measures suggested by the Government of Santander has to do with the Peak and double-digit ID. In this way, the circulation of citizens would be further limited, which would contribute to the decrease of COVID-19 infections.
The Governor’s plan is for the two-digit Peak and ID to begin on January 2 and extend until January 12.
In addition to this measure, the government of Mauricio Aguilar also recommended that the curfew also work during the Reyes Bridge. In this way, mobility is restricted throughout the holiday weekend, from Friday the 8th at 6:00 in the afternoon, until Tuesday the 12th at 6:00 in the morning.
In suspense if they are welcomed
At the moment it is unknown if the mayors of Bucaramanga, Floridablanca, Piedecuesta and Girón will take advantage of the measures presented by the Government.
Vanguardia learned that the municipalities of the area, with the exception of Bucaramanga, do not see any inconvenience in the proposal and will announce their adherence to it in the next few hours.
On the side of Bucaramanga, sources close to Mayor Juan Carlos Cárdenas told this newsroom that they are thinking of returning to the peak and ID, but even and odd. In the case of the curfew, they told Vanguardia that they are not contemplating expanding it.
