Restrictions for the Reyes bridge in Colombia: this is how they will work

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, local authorities have adopted measures such as curfew and dry law for this holiday weekend. Antioquia, Cundinamarca, Norte de Santander, Cali and Bucaramanga are some of the places where the restrictions have already been established, here we explain how they will work.

All the municipalities of Antioquia, Cundinamarca, Norte de Santander, as well as Cali and Bucaramanga will have restrictions during the holiday bridge to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Other cities in the country are assessing the situation to determine whether restrictions need to be imposed. Here we explain how the measures will work.

Antioquia and Medellín

Due to the increase in cases and the high occupancy of beds in Intensive Care Units, the Government of Antioquia established a curfew, dry and peak law and a certificate throughout the department in view of the festive weekend of Reyes. From this Wednesday, January 6, a curfew will take effect until January 11: between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

On Friday, January 8, there will be dry law, from 10:00 p.m. until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, January 11. The pico and cedula will continue to operate.

“We have a daily report of over 2.00 cases. Today we have more than 2,600 cases reported in the department. The number of deceased people and the occupation of beds (of ICU Intensive Care) due to COVID-19 is increasing, ″ said the governor in charge, Luis Fernando Suárez. At this time, the occupancy of ICU beds is at 82%.

The mayor of Medellín, Daniel Quintero, announced that the city will adopt the same measures in coordination with the national and departmental government.

Cali

Mayor Jorge Iván Ospina Gómez announced that Cali will have restrictions during the Three Kings holiday bridge. There will be a curfew from 9:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8, until Monday, January 11 at noon. Ospina explained that the decision was made after a rigorous analysis in the Scientific Committee and a tour of the Intensive Care Units of the capital of the Valley.

In addition, there will be a curfew from Tuesday, January 5, until Thursday, 7 between 11:00 at night and 5:00 in the morning of the next day, at this same time the measure applies on Monday, January 11. The peak and card for entering shopping centers, banks and large stores is maintained.

The Mayor’s Office also defined the schedule for the dry law: between Tuesday, January 5 and Thursday, January 7, it will be in effect from 10:00 at night, until 5:00 in the morning the next day; The measure begins on Friday, January 8 at 10:00 p.m. and ends on Monday, January 11 at noon. Monday, January 11, runs from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the next day.

Cundinamarca

The governor of Cundinamarca, Nicolás García, reported the measures to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 in the department that reaches an occupancy of 75% in its beds Intensive Care Units (ICU).

From Thursday, January 7 until midnight on the 11th of the same month, the curfew will operate between 08:00 at night and 05:00 in the morning. As for the dry law, it will be forbidden to sell or consume liquor in public establishments, even when its commercialization is done through homes.

It will also apply the bill and card that restricts the access of people to public service establishments such as shops, banks and notaries. Even days will be restricted for citizens whose ID ends in an even number (0,2,4,6,8) and odd days for those with an odd ID (1,3,5,7,9).

Bucaramanga Metropolitan Area

Bucaramanga, Girón, Piedecuesta and Floridablanca will have a curfew during the festive bridge of Reyes, the objective of the mayors of these municipalities is to avoid crowds and thus prevent the spread of COVID-19. The curfew until Thursday, January 7, runs from 11:00 at night to 5:00 in the morning; The measure begins at 9:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8, and ends at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 12.

The Governor of Santander, Mauricio Aguilar, summoned the mayors of the department and the unions to a new PMU this Wednesday, January 6 at 8:00 in the morning to analyze the behavior of the pandemic after the Christmas festivities and the end of year, new restrictions may be established.

North of Santander

The governor of Norte de Santander, Silvano Serrano, extended the curfew in all the municipalities of the department: between 7:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. the next day, until January 12, 2021 there will be restriction of the mobility of people and vehicles.

On the holiday weekend (January 9, 10 and 11) the circulation of vehicles and people in Norte de Santander is totally prohibited. The departmental president said that each mayor must establish, in accordance with the COVID-19 affectation, the measure of peak and ID.

The sale and consumption of intoxicating beverages in public spaces is also prohibited between 7:00 at night and 5:00 in the morning; as well as meetings with a capacity of more than ten people.
