There is great rejection and rejection by the authorities and the community of the department of Nariño for the murder of the 9-year-old girl.
The incident took place on Friday afternoon in the Los Llanos village of the municipality of Colón.
This town is located in the north of the department, where peace and healthy coexistence were suddenly altered, when its mayor, Segundo Gil, reported: “It is very sad to have to communicate this news to the country, but tragedy has invaded us once again.”

The official indicated that the minor “has been vilely abused and murdered while collecting firewood with her grandmother in the Huilque creek,” adding that the perpetrator of this crime appears to be a person suffering from mental problems or would have done so under the influence of the drugs.
The alleged perpetrator would have taken advantage of the solitude that prevailed in the place to attack both the girl and the adult.
He also maintained that since the same afternoon yesterday the municipal and departmental authorities, with the support of the National Police, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Colombian Family Welfare Institute (ICBF) “they are in the village to determine the causes and find the whereabouts of those responsible.”

Thanks to the intense search efforts that were carried out in the area, the mayor reported that on Saturday afternoon the members of the National Police managed to capture the alleged person responsible for the murder, who was transferred under strict security measures to the city de Pasto to be made available to the competent authorities.
“We ask the community to have prudence and great sanity so that no actions of justice are taken by force or false accusations are to be committed without being certain”, was the request made by Mayor Gil.

Regarding the health status of her grandmother, Gabina Gaviria, 73, it was indicated that she is in the recovery stage at the El Buen Samaritano hospital in the municipality of La Cruz, after receiving some injuries from a sharp weapon to the abdomen and an arm.
The governor of Nariño, Jhon Rojas Cabrera, did not hide his pain at such a regrettable event and expressed his solidarity with his relatives in these moments of sadness and despair.
“Our solidarity and condolences with the relatives of the girl Jennifer Alexandra Ortega Gil. We repudiate this fact and we trust that the authorities will find those responsible for this vile act, ”said the sectional president.
Likewise, he insisted that the defense of the rights of boys and girls, especially the right to life, must be a commitment of all Nariño residents and all institutions.
“I call on the people of Nariño to protect the lives of the boys and girls of our region,” stressed Rojas.
