Reported 734 new cases of covid-19 and 37 deaths this December 9

The total number of covid-19 infections in Valle del Cauca reached 116,273 cases this Wednesday, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the Ministry of Health.

The entity reported that 734 new cases were confirmed in the department in the last 24 hours, a figure lower than that reported on Tuesday, when the number of new positives reached 1,402, the highest since the start of the pandemic.

Likewise, the health authority confirmed 37 deaths from the coronavirus in the region, 19 of them in Cali.

The other deaths were recorded in Cartago (5), Palmira (2), Roldanillo (2), Buenaventura (1), Caicedonia (1), El Cerrito (1), Florida (1), Riofrío (1), Seville (1 ), Tuluá (1), Yumbo (1) and Zarzal (1)

In total, the number of deaths due to covid-19 in Valle del Cauca rose to 3,727, most of them (2,420) registered in Cali.

The end of the year season has been a challenge for regional and national authorities, given that before the December holidays there may be an increase in crowds, as well as a relaxation of prevention measures, especially in family gatherings.

Precisely this Wednesday the health authorities made an alert call before the high percentage of occupation of the Intensive Care Units, ICU, in Cali.

Every day we are going to have an increase in people who will need ICU, since there is a gradual increase in new covid cases. Covid-19 in Colombia

At the national level, the Ministry of Health reported 7,523 new cases of covid-19 in the last 24 hours, in which 40,240 tests, 30,902 PCR and 9,338 antigens were analyzed.

The regions with the most infections were Bogotá (1,387), Antioquia (1,006), Valle del Cauca (734), Tolima (583), Santander (506), Cartagena (369), Cundinamarca (355), Norte de Santander (327), Risaralda (322) and Barranquilla (234).

Likewise, the entity reported that 9,271 patients were recovered in the last day and confirmed 150 deaths due to covid-19, 125 of them occurred more than 24 hours ago.

In total, 1,392,133 cases of the new coronavirus have been reported in the country, of which 62,909 remain active.
