The La Vieja ecological trail, in the Eastern Hills, had been closed for more than three years until it reopened this Thursday.
This Thursday the La Vieja ecological trail was reopened, which surrounds the creek of the same name in the Eastern Hills of Chapinero. The trail was closed since August 2017, until in the midst of the new normal it was ordered to open.
This lasted less than 24 hours before there was a serious impact on the surrounding environment. The director of the Aqueduct, Cristina Arango, announced on her Twitter account that a source of fire was found on the path. This would have been created by people who entered the area illegally.
Our call to citizens to enjoy the trails with awareness of the care and protection of these spaces. At this time we attend an underground fire in pine needles in La Vieja caused by some unauthorized visitors.

Arango made a call to residents of the La Vieja ecological trail and to Bogota citizens in general. According to the senior official, agents of the Bogota Fire Department are working to extinguish the conflagration.
The trail was reopened on September 3 along with various environmental scenarios. The Monserrate trail, the La Vaca and La Conejera wetlands parks, and other passive recreation spaces were opened in the midst of the new normal measures.
