report 14,940 new cases this Thursday, the highest daily figure so far

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection reported 14,940 coronavirus infections in Colombia this Thursday, the new record for infections reported in a single day in the country.

According to the report presented by the highest health authority in the country, this day 45,434 PCR tests and 28,846 antigens were processed throughout the national territory.

The new cases correspond to Bogotá (4,748), Antioquia (1,966), Valle (1,156), Cundinamarca (812), Tolima (652), Barranquilla (608), Cartagena (607), Santander (556), Caldas (471), Meta (337), Risaralda (332), Norte de Santander (319), Boyacá (318), Atlántico (315), Nariño (296), Cesar (205), Huila (205), Quindío (196), Santa Marta ( 191), Guajira (96), Cauca (94), Magdalena (82), Caquetá (77), Córdoba (67), Bolívar (58), Casanare (52), Putumayo (45), Sucre (41), San Andrés (15), Chocó (14), Amazonas (3), Guainía (3), Vaupés (2) and Arauca (1).

This Thursday 280 deaths were also reported in Colombia -19 of these in the Valley, 12 in California- due to complications derived from covid-19 and 13,148 recovered from the disease. Thus, the country accumulates 1,559,766 cases in total -96,783 still active-, 41,454 deaths and 1,417,316 recovered.

With 1,156 confirmed cases in Valle del Cauca, the department has reached 130,002 infections since the arrival of the pandemic and ranks third – nationally – among the territories most affected by the coronavirus after Bogotá (443,602) and Antioquia (250,617) .

In the world there are already 79,194,606 infections, 1,738,736 deaths and 44,616,559 recovered.
