The authorities have just dealt a hard blow to a transnational network that sells Colombian identities to foreigners, especially to Cuban and Venezuelan citizens, for amounts that go up to 2 million pesos.
As established by EL TIEMPO, the network works from within the National Registry of Civil Status of Colombia, where, after issuing an extemporaneous Civil Registry of Birth to foreign citizens, they proceed to start the issuance of the Colombian citizenship cards and Colombian passport, to jump to other countries.

Through graphology and fingerprint laboratories and link analysis, it was possible to detect the use of people as witnesses of the birth of foreign citizens in Colombia, who had never carried out this process, since neither their fingerprints nor their signatures coincided.
Likewise, it was possible to detect how a municipal registrar in a single day issued 33 extemporaneous birth civil records, using the same recurring witnesses, and declarant that after the scientific technical analysis, link analysis and interviews, it was possible to establish that he had not been present for said procedure.
