The mayor of Medellín, Daniel Quintero, announced today that the city will have a curfew during the main Christmas holidays in order to avoid crowds and thus protect citizens from a massive outbreak of COVID-19.

This measure was also taken by the local administration due to the indiscipline of the inhabitants of the Antioquia capital that has generated an increase in positive cases of the virus. In the same message, Quintero made some recommendations for these holidays such as not visiting relatives, not hugging and not sharing drinks.
At this time, Medellín has an occupation of more than 80% in the beds of the Intensive Care Units (ICU), so a massive contagion would be a huge problem given the inability to receive more patients who carry the virus and are in situations risky.
