More videos of the acts of yesterday afternoon in Medellín arrive. The march passed peacefully, the police arrived on horses (noble animals that also ended up involved in this), and the repression began. The police strike from them at the height of the head. pic.twitter.com/TCnweikHIJ

After that, a group of animalists presented on Monday an initiative for a draft decree that seeks that animals, such as horses and dogs, are not used by the police in the control of marches and protests. The initiative was delivered to Antioquia Congressmen Nicolás Albeiro Echeverri, Germán Blanco and Juan Diego Gómez.
The mayor of Medellín Daniel Quintero spoke on the subject and supported the proposal.
“I have asked the Metropolitan Police not to make more use of horses in the control of marches in the city,” he trilled.

We thank @QuinteroStreet for its pronouncement and for meeting the request of the citizenry, understanding that the welfare of the animals prevails. 🐴

However, the Police recalled that the animals are part of the police component and are always required to control disturbances of public order. Thus, this request must be approved by the Police and the Ministry of Defense.
