Authorities are investigating the murder of a man and his 9-month-old little daughter in rural Suárez, a municipality in northern Cauca, apparently for failing to comply with the quarantine.

The events occurred around 3:30 in the afternoon of this Saturday, in the Dos Aguas village, La Toma district, when Armando Muñoz, 35, as the victim was identified, was moving on a motorcycle with his wife and his two daughters, 9 months and 5 years. They were near the Ovejas River, when they were attacked with gunshots by armed men.

The Secretary of the Government of Suárez, Milciades Vergara, indicated that the father died at the scene and the youngest of his daughters in the local hospital, while the other girl was injured and was sent in a delicate state of health to a clinic. in the city of Cali. “The population is terrified by this case and also because many pamphlets have been circulated by armed groups in which they say that they prohibit people from moving after two in the afternoon”, expressed the official.

Armando Muñoz was a mechanic and resided in the urban area of ​​that municipality.

Community leaders in the area said that behind the fact there is a group outside the law and that it would be related to the failure to comply with the mandatory quarantine for the coronavirus, given that the family had violated the isolation.

“If the coronavirus does not kill you, the armed groups that are in charge in this territory assassinate you,” denounced community representatives.

The regional Ombudsman, Rossi Muñoz Solarte, also spoke out and rejected the attack on this family.
