“The CONMEBOL Council resolved to suspend the double date of the Qualifiers for Qatar 2022 scheduled for March. The decision is due to the impossibility of having all the South American players in a timely manner,” said COmebol in a trill on its account of Twitter

The decision was made after a meeting between the parties and is mainly due to the refusal of European clubs to cede footballers to their selected, taking into account that upon their return they must complete quarantine periods.

Conmebol hoped that the Fifa could resolve this situation, but ultimately the decision was to postpone. Now, it is expected that it will be defined when these days will be played, for now there is no decision regarding that.

“FIFA will analyze the rescheduling of the date, in coordination with CONMEBOL and the member associations. Soon, the different options for holding the matches will be studied,” adds Conmebol in its announcement.

The current state of the pandemic, added to difficulties such as the one that arises in Colombia of not authorizing the arrival of flights from Brazil, They also made it difficult to carry out the days normally, scheduled for March 25, 26 and 30.

Colombia had to face Brazil on the 26th, while on the 30th he visited Paraguay.
