Manchester United, eliminated from the Champions League on Tuesday, will host its neighbor City on Saturday, in the star plate of the 12th day of the Premier League, between two teams that need to win to stay on the table.
With the first phase of the Champions finished and the greats of the continent focusing their efforts on the national leagues, the Premier League will live one of its stellar moments of the year, with five games to play before December 31.
A period that does not win the title, but that often serves to lose it.
And the Manchester United-Manchester City derby on Saturday has these ingredients. Respectively 5 and 6 points behind the leading duo, Tottenham and Liverpool, both have one game down, so they are still alive in the race for first place.
Both arrive in positive dynamics in the championship, especially the ‘Red Devils’, who have chained four victories in the last four days, with 10 goals in favor, to go from 15th to sixth position.
But they will play again after the European disappointment, not entering the second round of the Champions League after falling in the last two games of the group stage, against PSG at home and on Tuesday in Leipzig (3-2).
City comes after beating Burnley (5-0) and Fulham (2-0), also comfortably achieving their pass to the Champions League round of 16 and easily winning the last game against Marseille (3-0).
The players led by Pep Guardiola will seek to reestablish local supremacy after losing three of the four confrontations last year.
In the other matches, Chelsea (3rd) will provisionally try to regain their head, if they win their match at Everton (9th) on Saturday.
On Sunday Tottenham play Crystal Palace (11th) and Liverpool against Fulham (17th), prior to the explosive duel that both will play on Wednesday.
