Upon his arrival, the head of state supervised the biosecurity protocols and learned about the pilot plan for the opening of public beaches in the middle of the selective isolation phase by COVID-19.
Duque highlighted the commitment of the local government to assume the process of economic reactivation.
“The second milestone that is marked today is to visit one of the pilot projects for the development of beaches. A public beach like Playa Azul where niches have been organized in an exemplary way for the enjoyment of the family, where reservations are made online and where you can also reserve some of the items to protect yourself from the sun during the day ”, indicated the president in his speech.
For his part, the Minister of Commerce, José Manuel Restrepo, stressed that the country is now ready for tourism and that Cartagena is an example of preparation for reactivation.
“Colombia is ready for tourism. Here we are at Playa Azul La Boquilla. Biosecurity protocols are already in place. We have the sites with sufficient distance, we have also been making progress in the marking of the areas, with services, we have hand washing ”.
The president’s agenda culminated at the Hotel Las Américas where he was received by Juan Carlos Araújo, hotel manager, who accompanied him on a tour of its facilities and showed him the advances in biosafety protocols.
