Three senators from the Democratic Center attended this Friday to file a popular action against the Mayor of Bogotá, various indigenous organizations and the MAIS movement, considering that The indigenous minga that is due to arrive this weekend in the country’s capital is violating biosafety protocols and putting citizens at risk.
Specifically, the Senators of the Democratic Center Fernando Nicolás Araújo, Carlos Felipe Mejía and José Obdulio Gaviria ask that Mayor Claudia López “assume and exercise her functions, adopting police measuress and activities necessary to prevent the spread of COVID-19, ”given the risk that minga may represent, due to the fact that biosafety protocols are not being followed.

In addition, they request as a precautionary measure that the organizers of the minga “offer their apologies to the community for violating the protocols.”
They also exhort the members of the march to comply in the future with maximum capacity of fifty people, to have a social distancing of two meters; Y urgently adopt biosecurity protocols in accordance with the standards of the National Government and WHO prior to his arrival in the city.
But it is not the only thing. They also state that authorities must have a census of attendees, carry out PCR tests for covid-19 and determine the fixed places of accommodation to guarantee epidemiological fences.
And finally they request that to avoid events such as those recorded in Popayán with the statue of Sebastián de Belálcazar, that the cultural heritage of the city be protected.
