The decision to close the transport terminal was made by the authorities in Arauca, this Tuesday afternoon, and the Cajón Araucano media published several photos to show the large number of foreign citizens waiting around the place.
The media collected statements from several of the travelers and said that most of them are of Venezuelan nationality, and assured that “migrants are leaving en masse due to the quarantine decreed in Venezuela of 7 X 7”.
The images show families with children sitting on the platforms, and other people waiting in the grasslands for a bus to transport them to their destination.
There it is also observed that several policemen and immigration officials guard the access door to the terminal, while a man who works in the area denounced that “on the river bank there is no biosecurity” for access by these people.
Authorities “profit” from the passage of Venezuelans to Colombia
Caracol Radio reported that the department authorities met to find a solution to this “problem”, which was exacerbated by the massive arrival of foreign citizens in the last hours.
The station said that there are people who have the money to pay their travel ticket, but that the legal transporters and pirates take advantage of the situation to raise costs: they charge up to “$ 30” to transport them from Venezuela to Arauca.
Another complaint that the frequency collected is that there are travelers who cross the river through places where “there is no presence of public forces and Migration Colombia”, and that in the steps where controls were located “the authorities are profiting.”
