Junior from Barranquilla got the fruits of his great game in Uruguay. The shark team managed to win 0-1 in the last minutes over Plaza Colonia in the first leg of the South American Cup.
And it was the perfect result. Junior scored as a visitor and won in Uruguay. The Barranquilla team tried the whole game and did not specify the goal options, until in the last minutes the usual one arrived: Teófilo Gutiérrez. 0-1 and the return will be at the Metropolitano next week.
A 0-0 left ‘rumors’ of a bad game. But it was the opposite for Junior. The team that Luis Amaranto Perea now leads had a great commitment in Uruguay, pressed and sought the goal for 90 minutes. It was not given, because it was not specified in the last touch.
From the first half, Teófilo Gutiérrez was the decisive player of the match and arrived with everything at the rival goal, defended by Santiago Mele. In minute 24, ‘Teo’ took a very hard shot that the goalkeeper saved and then hit the crossbar. Junior warned, but it was not clear.
The partnership with Edwuin Cetré was also notable. Miguel Borja arrived with danger, but the Uruguayans, faithful to their style of play, remained in their portico keeping the zero and waiting for a counterattack. 0-0 in the first half.
The second half was more of the same, while Luis ‘Cariaco’ González gave everything to try to leave the strikers alone in the offensive zone. In one of those plays, at 73, Teófilo had a play that hit the Uruguayan defender’s hand. Direct free kick close to the area and Sebastián Viera was preparing. The Uruguayan finished off and Mele hit a superb shot to get this shot out of the angle.
Everything seemed to end 0-0. Nor was it a bad business for Junior, who was going to close the key in his house, but the value of the away goal did ‘weigh’ on his head. Then came, at minute 87, the usual: Teófilo Gutiérrez. ‘Cariaco’ threw a pass and the forward beat the defenders in strength and, almost pushed, the ball ended up entering to put the final 0-1 of the game.
