In the midst of the Mandatory Preventive Isolation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the mayor of Piedecuesta, Mario José Carvajal Jaimes, announced that together with the Piedecuestana company of Public Services, the Local Administration will assume the payment of relief in services of water and sewerage for the lower strata.

The president explained that this initiative aims to mitigate the economic impact generated by the consequences of the coronavirus emergency on the most vulnerable families who have seen their incomes decrease due to quarantine.

The subsidies announced by the administration will benefit at least 38 thousand users and will be applied in the aqueduct and sewerage services for the consumption of May and June as follows:

• Strata 1: 50%

• Stratum 2: 20%

• Stratum 3: 15%

In addition, an additional discount of 10% will be granted for prompt payment that will apply to all strata.

Likewise, special financing was proposed for those who cannot pay the bills. Strata 1 and 2 will be able to finance their invoices for 36 months, while strata 3 and 4 will be able to finance them for 24 months.

Assuming the payment of this percentage in the consumption of water and sewerage for the lowest strata during May and June, will cost the Municipality around one billion pesos.
