The presidential adviser for the Participation of People with Disabilities, Jairo Clopatofsky, He spoke to Caracol Radio about the inclusion of that population and the situation they are experiencing during these moments of the pandemic.
He pointed out that from his entity they work in an articulated way with the ministries and administrative departments to guarantee aid to people with disabilities. Furthermore he said that “The pandemic has served to see where that population is”, considering that they could be more than the nearly three million that DANE says.
Clopatofsky said that 1,470,000 people are currently receiving some form of subsidy or aid as part of prosperity programs, older adult, among others. He also said that there are about 265,000 children with disabilities who are cared for by the Government and that inclusion programs are also being carried out to allow more and more minors to be accepted in schools.
The counselor announced that they detected about 600,000 people who are outside these systems and who mainly live in rural areas, in situations of poverty and with little access to technology to register. For them announced “A large territorial survey to characterize the population with disabilities.”
Clopatofsky recalled that they have two channels for the population with disabilities. The first is the mail [email protected], where they receive requests for subsidies; and the second is the national toll free line 018000513700 or 4837000 in Bogotá to receive requests for EPS, health services or medical appointments.
