What is going to happen is that many reservations will be canceled and we as a sector begin to accumulate losses because we are left with the purchased inventory and with the contracted personnel without being able to carry out the sale”.
He also explained that the District is being asked to, in the case of restaurants, assessing the existence of biosafety protocols, and the prohibition of the sale of liquor after 10 at night, alternatives can be found that exempt them from the peak and cedula. “So we can contribute so that people do not go out en masse or lower their guard.”

For his part, Juan Esteban Orrego, director of Fenalco Bogotá, said that the restriction of the ‘peak and cedula’ is an inconvenient measure because ithe formal trade has been complying with all the protocols. “There is a very difficult situation in Bogotá, a high demand for Intensive Care Units (ICU) and we know that the cases are increasing but the work must be avoiding crowds”.
He added that by impacting various areas of Bogotá in this way and controlling informal commerce, the situation can be controlled. “We are in the final stretch, three days before Christmas arrives, restaurants have a large amount of inventories of perishables. Formal commerce is the one that is taxed and the one that generates employment, which is what makes the city work.
