The return of the peak and ID restriction in Cali and the extension of the curfew and the dry law in the city would begin this Wednesday, December 16, the mayor of Cali, Jorge Iván Ospina announced on Tuesday.

The president assured on Blu Radio that from this day there will be restrictions “of even and odd (odd)” for access to commerce. Likewise, that the curfew and the prohibition law would start from at least 11:00 pm

“No longer will everyone be able to go to commerce every day and every day, but will have to go with an even and odd, with an even and odd, in the ID number, in such a way that we reduce the conglomerates to the interior of the shops “, explained the mayor.

Thus, the city will once again have a measure that was not in force since last September 1, when the measure was dismantled as part of the beginning of the selective isolation phase in the country.

So far no more details of the new peak and ID are known, since the Administration has not issued the respective decree.

Ospina also warned that “any family, social or neighborhood conglomerate activity is prohibited in the city, in such a way that the novenas, the meetings that take place since December 16, cannot take place.”

It should be noted that the restrictions on mobility and the sale of alcoholic beverages in the city, in force since last December 10, currently begin at 1:00 a.m. and extend until 5:00 a.m.

Likewise, according to the president, these measures could be in force on Christmas Day and its eve, that is, December 25 and 24.

The mayor had advanced these news via Twitter on Monday night, also indicating that Cali will enter a hospital red alert.

Among the other determinations that will be made, the president said, “in clinics and hospitals, ask them not to carry out elective scheduled surgeries that later demand the Intensive Care Unit, ICU.”

“But also that the service providers unfold all the contingency plans they have in their hospitals and clinics and put into service as many units as we can,” added Ospina.

Cali had no pick and ID since September 1. So far no further details of the measure are known.

ICU occupancy reaches 91%

The measures are taken in light of the high number of covid-19 cases that occur in the city and the percentage of occupancy of ICUs in healthcare centers in the capital of the Valley, which reaches 91%.

“Things are really dramatic. We had a meeting this Monday with the directors of the ICUs from all over the city (…) and they pointed out the following circumstance: on the one hand, a shortage of muscle relaxants or speculation from suppliers regarding the price of the same, “he explained this Tuesday to the national station

He added that, on the other hand, there are “diseases that accumulated during the first peak of the pandemic, which would be called the burden of disease that today is expressed with complications in the ICU. In addition, new patients of Covid-19 cause in the care unit intensive”.

The above, indicated the president, led to the total occupancy of ICUs in the city’s public and private hospital network exceeding 90%. “The stays are being long, therefore the rotation of beds is infrequent,” he reported.

According to Ospina, epidemiologists have told him that the speed of transmission of the virus has increased. “We are with an Rt (effective reproduction rate of the virus) of 1.13, which is making it possible for more people to get sick.”

“In addition to these situations, which are very difficult for us, we began to see a fatigue in our community with regard to isolation and citizen culture measures and that is why we have to take a step to decree a red alert,” stressed the local president .

Curfew and Prohibition will be from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am the next day. According to the Mayor, these measures could also apply during December 24 and 25.

Colombian Soccer Final will not have an audience

Mayor Jorge Iván Ospina reiterated that the game of the final of Colombian Professional Soccer between America and Santa Fe, which will take place next Sunday, December 20 at the Pascual Guerrero stadium, will be held without an audience.

“The America game cannot have an audience. We cannot have people in the stadium. We invite people to watch the game from their home and assume a responsibility not to connect with people they do not know and who may well do so. get sick, “he stressed.

Although he did not speak of any particular measure for the day of the meeting, he assured that they will be “very attentive to signal to the public that this game, which we all want to be successful, is not a space of conglomerate and contagion.

The mayor’s words go in the same way as those said by the Minister of Sports, Ernesto Lucena, who also ruled out on Tuesday that the final has public attendance, despite some rumors about it.
