President Iván Duque reiterated in the last hours his call to Colombians to share at home in these festivities Christmas and New Year’s Day without neglecting biosecurity protocols, respecting physical distancing and observing the behaviors that are required to avoid Covid-19 infections.
“I make a heartfelt appeal to you, because this is not just about dictating measures, we will dictate them, of course, where necessary, as we have done. The President stated that, although “we are tired of being locked up many, others of being distant from our relatives, we want to share with them, give us a hug, give a kiss to our loved ones, share closely. But the truth is that the agglomerations that we can generate in our homes can immediately generate a growth in cases, and we are seeing that today ”.
He warned that “we could already find a correlation between the agglomerations that appeared on the Day of the Candles and the behavior of new infections.
Equally, recalled the resolutions issued by the Ministry of Health that limit the consumption of alcohol after certain hours in restaurants and bars, in highly affected places.

For this reason, the Vice Minister of Health, Luis Alexander Moscoso announced a series of measures in cities such as Cucuta, Ibagué and Cali, where there is high risk and occupancy of ICU beds.
“We contemplate restrictions on mobility in Cucuta and Norte Santader as well as in other cities where there is high contagion, from 10 at night on December 24 until Sunday and the same for the holiday bridge on December 31. In the same way there will be peak and gender, also peak and cedula in other cities with medium risk, which we will be making known, “he said.

During the month of December there has been a growth in the occupation of highly complex services for covid care or other diseases, reaching a general availability of around 40%, a figure that presents differentials according to the affectation in cities.
