Deportivo Cali drew 1-1 this Saturday during its visit to Pasto at Estadio Libertad, in a match on date 13 of the 2020 BetPlay League that improved in the complementary stage after a few approaches to the gates began.
This result kept the green-and-white cast in the fifth box with 21 points, while Pasto reached the lead with 25, despite not having an outstanding performance on his court.
For the first time, Alfredo Arias used three containment flyers: Andrés Colorado, Andrés Balanta and Jhojan Valencia, with which he achieved his goal of avoiding possession in the premises, while leaving Deiber Caicedo and Agustín with the mission of opening the spaces in the defense of the Nariño team and Angelo Rodríguez attentive as a fisherman.
Cali was the owner of the ball and touched it from the first intention, making wear in a pasture that did not find its best game or the ways to overcome that solid ‘sugar’ block.
Deiber Caicedo had the visitor’s first approach at 6 with a shot over the top and Pasto at 9 with a left-footed shot from Jhon Pajoy that was left in the hands of David González.
Then Pasto reappeared at 20, but Gómez saved his team after sending the ball to the corner kick. Palavecino entered the area at 31, but Arboleda managed to reject.
A free kick by Pasto on the left became the riskiest action of the ‘volcanic’ cast, but goalkeeper González was good to block Pajoy’s charge at 39. As time passed, Deiber and Palavecino declined in their football and that hurt Cali.
For the complement, Pasto came out more offensive, with Esneyder Mena opening the court on the right.
However, Cali hit first with a play that Palavecino started with the newly entered Jhon Vásquez, who went to the bottom, threw the center, goalkeeper Martínez could not grab and Palavecino himself took advantage of the rebound to push it on the left post, to all 17 minutes.
Vásquez looked good with the centrals and with goalkeeper Martínez and almost scored the second verdiblanco
But Pasto equalized at 28 after a cross from Ray Vanegas on the right, the ball went to the small area where Menosse did not manage to deflect and Jeison Medina, stretching his right leg, beat González for 1-1.
Camilo Ayala, who already had a yellow card, reached for a ball and the referee Wander Mosquera forgave him the expulsion at 33. The host ended up in the ‘sugar’ zone, but although he could not unbalance the scoreboard, he did climb to the first League place.
Pasto completed six years without beating Valle del Cauca, the last time 2-0, on September 13, 2014.
On the 14th date, Cali will receive Boyacá Chicó on Wednesday, October 14 (2:00 pm), while Pasto will visit Patriotas that same day (11:00 am).
