Park Way, in Bogotá: a new type of robbery

A Twitter user reported this weekend that In the Park Way sector, located in the town of Teusaquillo, in Bogotá, cases have been reported of people appearing unconscious, lying on the street and without their belongings.

The complainant pointed out that, while near the Almirante Padilla Monument at 11 p.m., a couple of men approached her and her partner to talk. While one of them was playing guitar, the other offered them a drink. The woman, who already knew of cases in which the same modality was used, prepared to leave that place as quickly as possible.

Some users who responded to the thread exposed by the woman reported that, in that same sector, they have been victims of theft and intoxication with burundanga and warned of possible suspects.

Insecurity in Bogotá

This is just one of the cases that occur daily in the country’s capital. Last Friday, a married couple was attacked in their car by a group of thieves on Avenida Las Américas, causing the woman to have injuries to her face.

According to the Security and Coexistence Indicators bulletin of the Bogotá Security Secretariat, 59,557 pedestrian robberies were reported as of September 2020. Other crimes such as bicycle theft increased by 35.8%.

According to the District, the towns most affected by crime are: Kennedy, Engativá, Suba, Usaquén, Chapinero, Fontibón and Bosa.
