Jorge Iván Ospina, mayor of Cali, confirmed this Friday that they will advance the payment corresponding to the Christmas bonus to the public officials of the municipality, accepting the decision of President Iván Duque.

Through his Twitter account, the president of the Caleños affirmed that they will make every effort to pay the servers before November 21.

“Our city will make every effort to pay our public servants the Christmas bonus before November 21, accepting the directive of Mr. President @IvanDuque,” he wrote.

It should be noted that President Duque confirmed this Thursday that those who are part of the official sector will receive their premium in the second half of this month.

“I have given a very clear instruction: We will be issuing a presidential directive before the end of this week, so that between November 15 and 30 we advance the payment of the Christmas premium in the public sector (central government),” he said.

Duque emphasized that this measure will specifically cover those employees who depend on the central government, but made a call to replicate it in the territorial entities.

“The idea is also that governors and mayors are empowered to do so, who want to advance it,” he clarified.

The Christmas bonus for civil servants reporting to the central government will be paid between November 15 and 30.
The Government’s idea is to allow families to have resources in advance, in order to be able to ‘wake up early for Christmas’ and advance their purchases.

According to the head of state, in addition to the Day without VAT, it is expected that between Friday 27 and Sunday 29 November the ‘Black Friday’, in which several companies give important discounts for purchases digitally.

At the end of last month, Duque had invited Colombians to do their Christmas shopping in advance, in order to help the economy revive, affected by the pandemic.
