According to the young lawyer who filed the action, Marla Gutiérrez, by law, no public official can place monuments to commemorate their participation in public works; That is why the plaque with the name of President Iván Duque in the La Línea Tunnel, one of the most important infrastructures in the country recently inaugurated, was against the rules.

Gutiérrez explained in a video that he presented a petition to the Presidency, the Government of Tolima and the Ministry of Transportation to remove the plaque. Later, he went to the Administrative Court of Atlántico, and it ruled in favor of the citizen.

“[El tribunal] It determined that within a period of no more than 30 days, President Iván Duque must remove the plaque from the La Línea Tunnel. This shows us that no politician is above the law, and that public works are not owned by anyone other than the people themselves, “said the lawyer, as heard in this recording:

Before the judicial decision, Blu Radio says that Invías asked the Council of State to pronounce on the case and make a final decision, to know whether or not it has to withdraw it.

When the La Línea Tunnel was inaugurated, after its construction process lasted more than 100 years, the plaque drew the attention of several citizens who expressed their discomfort through Twitter that the president put their name on a work.

Some said that Duque’s name was even greater than that of the Tunnel itself.
