Orange alert in Cundinamarca due to heavy rains | Winter season – Bogotá

As of this Friday, Cundinamarca, in its 116 municipalities, enters an orange alert for the rainy season. This was decreed and announced by the Government after analyzing the climate projections for the next few days.

“After a technical report presented by Ideam and reports presented by CAR, CorpoOrinoquía and CorpoGuavio. A thorough analysis was made of the municipalities affected (46 to date) by landslides, sudden floods and torrential floods. With this, comes a enlistment phase for the operational bodies, Firefighters, Civil Defense, Red Cross and Army. In short, this phase ensures the delivery of aid, technical assistance and a higher level of disaster prevention.

As indicated by the Government, “to date, 46 emergencies have been reported: 22 landslides, 29 floods, 6 torrential flood events and 2 sudden floods.”

“While it is true that we have reports from the municipalities that have presented emergencies, we cannot ignore that we have other populations at high risk due to the heavy rainfall and flooding that we are having in rivers such as Negro, Bogotá, Lenguazaque, Frío and Ubaté and the La Negra and La Onda streams ”, stated Herrera.

A meteorologist from Ideam confirmed to the Government that for the months of November and December the rains will be above normal.
