Only 55% of Colombians would be interested in applying the vaccine against COVID-19

Potential adverse effects are the main reason why the vaccine would not be given, according to the Dane Social Pulse Survey.

The National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane) revealed the most recent report of its social pulse survey, a report that provides information on the perception and status of citizenship in different fields.

In this report, the effect of the pandemic on food health still remains: while before COVID-19 89% of households reported that they consumed three meals a day, in November 2020 only 70% could do so.

It also shows the high financial vulnerability. Compared to the situation a year ago, only 3.2% of households reported that they have more possibilities to buy clothes, shoes, food. And 70% of households reported that they have no more chances than a year ago.

Furthermore, only 10.5% of households believe that in the next 12 months they will have money available to go on vacation. Which is consistent with the data that reveals that 69.5% of households have no possibility of saving.

Faced with the labor market, 45.4% of households consider that employment will decrease in the coming months, and 28.5% that it will increase.

The social pulse survey also reveals the outlook for the pandemic. 34% of Colombians are very concerned about catching the coronavirus, 31% are a little concerned, 4% are indifferent, 21% are somewhat concerned and 9.3% are not at all concerned.

For this reason, the data that reveals that in November 2020 only 55.8% of Colombians reported being interested in applying the vaccine against COVID-19 if it is available, and 44.2% would not be interested.

According to the survey, 56% reported that the main reason they would not be interested in getting the vaccine is because they believe it may be unsafe due to potential adverse effects. And 19.4% indicated that it is because they do not believe that the vaccine can be effective enough.
