One police officer killed and five injured in dissidents attack in rural Bugalagrande

A member of the Police died and five wounded, one of them seriously, is the result of an ambush that was registered in a mountainous area of ​​the municipality of Bugalagrande

The incident, attributed to the Farc’s Adán Izquierdo company, was registered this Tuesday at 12:40 pm in the Tochecito district, in the jurisdiction of the Chorreras district.

At that site, a group from the Mobile Squad of Carabineros of the National Police, Emcar, who was accompanying the Third Judge of the Cali Specialized Circuit at that time in land registration and land restitution processes, was attacked by the subversives.

According to Colonel César Augusto Castaño, commander of the National Unit for Land Restitution and Antiterrorism, the fatal victim was identified as 25-year-old patrolman Jefferson Giovanny Garzón Cárdenas, a native of Bogotá, who received a rifle shot in the chest.

Meanwhile, the injured, who were transferred to the San Francisco and Maríangel de Tuluá clinics, were identified as the Leiniquer patrolmen Adolfo Ríos Holguín, José Alirio Rivera Novoa, Wilmar Oswaldo Ortiz and Lácides Roche, as well as the assistant mayor José Jorge Mendoza Villalba.

Colonel Jorge Antonio Urquijo Sandoval, commander of the Valle Police Department, affirmed that the wounded soldiers “are out of danger” and are evolving “satisfactorily.”

It should be remembered that on September 17, in the jurisdiction of the La Moralia district, in the mountainous area of ​​Tuluá, that same dissident group of the Farc attacked a base of the Humanitarian Demining Battalion that was in that region.

In the action of the dissidents, a truck was incinerated and another vehicle stolen, as well as destroyed computers, communication equipment and the metal detectors used by the uniformed men to carry out demining work in that area.
