One dead and one injured, the balance of a fight that started inside a motel and in which there was a shooting

One person died and another was injured as a result of a fight that took place inside a motel located on the outskirts of Cali and in the jurisdiction of the municipality of Yumbo, south of Valle del Cauca, according to the authorities.

The commander of the Cali Metropolitan Police, Brigadier General Manuel Vásquez, reported that the fight took place between two groups of people who initially “were chatting in different spaces.”

“At some point, in the early morning, they wanted to integrate, however, rejection was presented by some and this led to a fight where firearms were used, resulting in two people impacted,” said the officer.

One of the victims was injured inside the establishment and was transferred to a clinic located in the north of Cali, where, according to the information provided by General Vásquez, she is recovering.

The other person died in the hospital to which he was taken, after he was shot outside the motel and from a car that arrived when everyone was evacuating and caused damage to the facade.

“From this moment, the Police are present at the scene and, acting as the first respondent, in coordination with the Prosecutor’s Office, the alleged murderer is identified,” said General Manuel Vásquez.

The officer also indicated that two vehicles were identified in which the people involved in the incident were moving.

“Finally, and based on these behaviors contrary to coexistence, the Police closed the establishment,” concluded the commander of the Cali Metropolitan Police.

According to the report delivered by the authorities of the capital of Valle del Cauca, the case was registered at dawn on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 and is investigated by both the Criminal Investigation Section (Sijín) and the Corps. Investigation Technician (CTI) of the Prosecutor’s Office.
