One dead and one injured leaves a shooting in a motel north of Cali

One man killed and one injured is the balance left by a shooting at the Rey del Norte motel, located on the Cali – Yumbo road.

The mortal victim of this event was a 23-year-old young man, who died when he was transferred to the Joaquín Paz Borrero hospital. He was identified as Johan Miguel Ortiz Campo.

The injured is another man who remains in a hospital with a reserved prognosis.

However, there are two versions related to this violent event that occurred in the early hours of the morning.

While the police indicate that the fight started inside the establishment, the motel management says that everything happened on the outskirts.

According to General Manuel Vásquez, commander of the Cali Metropolitan Police, the shooting took place within the framework of a fight that began inside the motel between two groups of young people.

Apparently, a group of people tried to enter another room, in which there were other young people.

The occupants of both rooms left the motel and it was there, according to authorities, a shooting took place that claimed the life of Ortiz Campo.

However, the manager of the Rey del Norte Motel, told El País that it is false that the shooting took place inside the establishment.

“The problem occurred around 4:00 am, when a group of young people, aboard a car, arrived at the motel and asked to enter one of the multiple rooms where another group of people was, arguing that they knew each other. The occupants authorization was asked for the room, but they did not allow it, “he said.

The administrator pointed out that it was there when it all started, since “when they were told that they could not enter, they got angry, tried to enter by force and damaged one of the walls of the entrance, then they began to argue among themselves and there the shooting took place “.

According to the motel staff, the confrontation occurred outside the establishment and not inside as is said in the first versions.

Finally, the authorities confirmed that the individualization of the alleged murderer was achieved. In addition, it was reported that the closure of the establishment became effective.

It should be remembered that according to figures from the Ministry of Security and Justice, between October 1 and 5 in Cali there have been 18 homicides, four more than in the same period of the previous year.
