América de Cali drew 1-1 this Saturday with Once Caldas in Manizales and missed the opportunity to get into the top eight for the first time, in development of date 13 of the BetPlay League I-2021.
A heavy downpour two hours earlier made the court heavy and the ball did not roll well at the Palogrande Stadium and this situation led to several fouls at the beginning of the game, but with the passage of time the options were opened and both teams provided a good show.
It was an intense first half in which possession was distributed, a little more for the visitor, with several arrivals at the gates, although goalkeeper Gerardo Ortiz had more work and saved his team in decisive actions. But that does not erase that the Valle del Cauca cast failed again in the last stitch by making bad decisions.
On minute 4, a precise touch from Santiago Moreno allowed Yesus Cabrera to face and cross back, where Jeison Lucumí received the ball to take a well-placed right to the left post of José Gerardo Ortiz in the 0-1.
Antonio Romero ripped and came down the left to give the ball to Lemos, but Graterol saved well. At 9, the Venezuelan goalkeeper wanted to handle the ball back and the ball almost crossed the goal line.
About 21, Adrián Ramos entered the area and collided with goalkeeper Ortiz, but referee Wílmar Roldán did not even ask for a VAR review.
Once Caldas tied at 24, when a shot was lifted from the right and Yoiver González beat Rodrigo Ureña in the jump to hammer the ground and lodge the ball on Graterol’s left post.
At 28, Antonio Romero pushed the ball into goal, but David Lemos was ahead before sending the cross and the action was invalidated.
Again America approached with a left foot from Rafael Carrascal at 30, but Ortiz took the ball out on the corner kick.
America suffered the game after minute 30, because Carrascal did not collaborate much in the containment and Luis Paz looked very alone in that mission, hence at 37 Viáfara arrived without pressure to head over the horizontal. But it was an inconvenience that was also seen in the Once, which allowed the association of the flyers and red ends to freely approach the Ortiz properties.
‘Adriancho’ received a service from Carrascal at 38 to be in front of Ortiz, but the white goalkeeper well contained the scarlet forward’s header.
The start of the second half again showed America in the white area, and Santiago Moreno tried a right hand that was slightly deflected on the left post.
Deivy Balanta replaced Yoiver Balanta, injured, when they ran 7 minutes from the complement.
Kevin Andrade came to accompany a new offensive play, but had no direction in the header against the local goalkeeper.
Duván Vergara entered for Santiago Moreno at 13 minutes, while Luis Sánchez did it for Paz – who was booked – at 18.
Eduardo Lara also moved his bench to make way for Sebastián Guzmán for Hárrison Otálvaro and Ménder García for Alejando García at 15.
Robert Mejía tested the reflexes of Graterol, who sent the ball to the corner kick, at 17.
Adrián Ramos tried to go to a deep ball on the right and showed a muscular discomfort, so he requested the change so that Díber Cambindo entered in the 22nd minute.
With the heavy court and several resentful players, the intensity of the match diminished and in an isolated play America was saved from the second of Once Caldas when Mejía won a ball from Yesus and from long distance he almost surprised Graterol, but the ball hit the crossbar, at 27.
For the first time, Cristian Arrieta tried to go on the attack at 31, but did not have clarity in the center on the last line. On the other side, Nicolás Giraldo contributed little in offensive volume.
Coach Lara played his last offensive card by ordering the entry of Faider Burbano by Venezuelan Antonio Romero at 36, although the panorama did not change much.
The changes implemented by Juan Cruz Real did not give the expected result in the red box, in a second period that had deteriorated in the quality of the game and with several protagonists ‘ground’ by the state of the grass.
At 43, Graterol was providential against Ménder García and prevented the white box from becoming the winner. But incredibly Duván Vergara squandered the second red at minute 47 and in the face of Ortiz, after a precise pass from Rodrigo Ureña.
On date 14, América will be local this Wednesday, March 24 (3:15 pm) against Medellín, while Once Caldas will visit Santa Fe on Tuesday 23 (8:00 pm).
