Bogotá ended the weekend with patients in 812 of the 1,747 beds installed to care for people in critical condition due to coronavirus.
That means that only 46.5% are employed of ICU beds in the city, the lowest figure since last June 9, when 46.8% of them had citizens affected by COVID-19.
In the first week of June, occupancy in the intensive care units of Bogota hospitals ranged between 44% and 47%. In this way, the capital of the country will begin October with the same panorama as four months ago, but with the difference that now the trend in statistics is downward.
The last time Bogotá was below 40% occupancy in its ICU beds was on May 23, when the country was approaching its third month fighting the pandemic and barely exceeded 20,000 cases of coronavirus, of which almost 7,000 were in the city.
The capital’s hospital system hit the peak two months ago, when between July 24 and 26 the occupation in ICUs was around 93%, But from that moment on, the continuous decline in that statistic began.
This Sunday the country exceeded 813,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19, although only 74,000 of them are active since more than 700,000 have already recovered.
