Some inhabitants of the Simón Bolívar and La Esmeralda neighborhoods, in Itagüí, see with surprise the fact that it was thought that the deafening noise in the sky of the Aburrá Valley on Monday was due to the phenomenon known as ‘cielomoto’.

Apparently, according to citizen complaints, it would be the Coltejer company.

Francisco José Ossa Naranjo, president of the Community Action Board of the Simón Bolívar neighborhood, confirmed to this newspaper that for several years the residents of that sector have complained about the noises that are produced in the factory.

As explained, sounds are generated every 15-20 days, always late at night, and apparently they would be related to some boiler maintenance work.

Although many residents have already gotten used to it, Ossa Naranjo points out that the neighbors are asking for a solution to the problem and have expressed their desire for the company to listen to them.

Daniel Restrepo Arcila, a resident of the La Esmeralda neighborhood, agrees on that. “There have been nights in which it has sounded up to ten times in a row, so when someone who is not from the sector tries to say that it is a sky or a natural phenomenon, one says but How is it possible if I have lived with that noise for the 20 years that I have been living in the neighborhood?“, he questioned.

In fact, residents of the sector have videos from other dates this year, although they recognize that the din on Sunday night was unique and much louder than usual. In turn, they demand answers from the authorities. EL TIEMPO requested information from the company in this regard, but has not yet received it.

In this regard, this Friday, the environmental authority reported having asked the company for a plan, without mentioning its name.

“We asked this industry to establish a plan or a mechanism so that these episodes would not happen again. However, this was a greater risk mitigation mechanism. and that it really protected us from other possible episodes, “explained Ana María Roldán, AMVA’s environmental deputy director.

The same Municipal Administration, delved into the explanation.

“The Mayor’s Office and the Metropolitan Area verified that it was a fall in the power supply of one of the boilers of a company located in our city. The noise was caused by the activation of the safety valves of this company“, explained Sebastián Zuleta Zea, Itagüí’s Secretary of the Environment.

Even so, the inhabitants of the sector wonder why the problem has not been solved for so long.
